Two anti-pylon groups have pulled out of talks with Eirgrid over the North-South interconnector.

The majority of landowners and local communities in Meath, Cavan and Monaghan is represented by the  North East Pylon Pressure Campaign and County Monaghan Anti-pylon Committee.

They pulled out of the oral hearings on the proposed interconnector, which would see around 300 pylons built across three counties.

They say it could not be avoided due to what they describe as a blatant disregard and disrespect for the hearings from Eirgrid.

North East Pylon Pressure (NEPP) is the overall representative group for the people of Ireland’s North East who advocate that high power electric cables should go underground.
