The Citywest Hotel is paying €13m on a large restoration of its bedrooms and public spaces after having a good year in which its profits increased by 20pc.

The investment follows Citywest’s acquisition two years ago by Tetrarch Capital, an Irish-owned property firm. Tetrarch’s hotel and leisure division runs the 764-bed hotel. The property firm said the upgrades are well underway after it completed the refurbishment of the hotel’s bars.

Last year revenue at the firm increased with stronger occupancy rates and corporate events adding to the spike. Asa  result of the increase in revenue staffing levels at the hotel increased by 20pc over the last year, with the hotel now employing 420.
Citywest general manager John O’Farrell said he was “delighted” with the improvements being made to the location.

“We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality stay to all of our guests. Under a new management team and new ownership, the Hotel has been transformed into the preeminent destination to hold events with style and scale.”
Slightly over half (55pc) of the hotels guests are domestic, with the remaining 45pc coming in from abroad.

The Citywest Hotel is located on the N7, not far off from Dublin City Centre. It is the largest hotel in Ireland, with more than 764 rooms.
