Enterprise Ireland Reports Record Job Growth Amidst Challenging Year
Enterprise Ireland revealed a remarkable surge in net employment, reaching a record-breaking 225,500 jobs amid the challenges of the past year. Despite the hurdles, the government agency, dedicated to supporting Irish businesses globally, successfully created 15,530 new jobs in 2023, resulting in a positive net growth of 5,000 jobs. Notably, job growth in regional areas surpassed expectations, constituting 68% of the overall increase, demonstrating the resilience of businesses outside Dublin.
The announcement took place at APC’s Dublin headquarters, coinciding with the life sciences company’s substantial €100 million expansion and the creation of 300 new jobs for ‘The Medicine Accelerator Campus.’ CEO Leo Clancy underscored the pivotal role of Irish export-focused companies in generating quality employment and emphasized the loyalty fostered in rural communities by ambitious job creators. Clancy also highlighted the importance of immigrants in enhancing the Irish labour market, stating that access to global talent is crucial in the current tight labour market.
