Grant Thornton has announced it is to create 250 new jobs across all areas of its business operations in Ireland. A significant number of the new posts will be in its Centre of Excellence, which provides a new framework for the delivery of global compliance and reporting services, from its base in Ireland.

Welcoming the announcement Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor said: This new Centre of Excellence project by Grant Thornton is an exciting development and I warmly welcome the new jobs being created.  Ireland’s growing expertise in the knowledge-based sectors, especially in Financial Services, is delivering strong numbers of quality jobs.  Our companies are increasingly able to provide the complex range of advice services required by both multinational and Irish companies based here. The seamless integration of quality professional expertise into business life ensures that Ireland continues to be an attractive location for new investment projects”.

Commenting on the announcement from India where he is currently meeting investors, Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland said: “I am particularly pleased to see Grant Thornton expand its Centre of Excellence for compliance and reporting services.  This will reinforce Ireland’s position as both a global and regional hub for sophisticated financed-based global business services.

“This Centre of Excellence is a welcome addition to the 200+ Global Business Service Centres located here in Ireland and its focus on high value complex services is very much in keeping with the national strategy for Global Business Services – launched earlier this month.”
