After eight years of strategic and sustainable growth, through the delivery of operationally excellent Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Construction services for local and international clients, Kirby Group has announced key management progressions from January 2020.

Jimmy Kirby, who has led the development of Kirby as Strategy Director through strategy formulation and execution from 2011 to 2015 and subsequently as Group Managing Director, is progressing to the role of Executive Chair. During this time, the business has grown from an annual turnover of €60 million to €240 million and now directly employs over 900 people.

Throughout this period of growth, the company continuously implemented safety performance improvements, strengthened its management team and the capabilities that enable the business to create and share value at this level of activity. The company also successfully achieved focused international growth through developing a differentiated value proposition and identification of target geographies and sectors undergoing investment.

Jimmy Kirby will continue to lead areas of the business for key clients and as Executive Chair, will guide the formulation and development of strategy and organisational capability.

Kirby Group Operations Director, Mark Flanagan, who has successfully led the development of the company’s Operations Team and their delivery of Operational Excellence over the last eight years of growth, will progress to the role of Group Managing Director.

Mark Flanagan has innovatively led the development of the ‘Kirby Way’ lean processes and the creation of the ‘Kirby Academy’. He is passionate about continuously delivering value to clients and developing strong partnership-based relationships. Mark will take on the responsibility for the overall performance of the company and lead the group through its next phase of capability development and growth.
