M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy Motorway PPP Scheme Opens
An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has officially opened the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy Motorway PPP Scheme. Funded, constructed and operated by the BAM ACS Consortium, it will reduce travel times from Dublin to Wexford by up to 30 minutes.
At the opening Theo Cullinane, BAM Ireland CEO, said: “We are very pleased to be able to open this motorway ahead of schedule and within budget. I compliment all the teams involved, BAM lead by John O’Sullivan, Alan Finn and Yvonne Jones. Dragados lead by Pedro Jadraque Gago, our designers Arup and RPS lead by Mike Evans and Michael Noonan and their staff, not just on the quality of the construction and the early completion, but also on the adherence to the highest safety standards over the last three years, with no serious accidents, all consistent with the high safety record of BAM and Dragados. You should be very proud of your achievements.”
The construction of the M11 was a huge task and consists of the following elements:
◾75 kilometres of motorway, dual carriageway & side roads
◾120 structures including under bridges, over bridges, rail bridges & culverts etc
◾5,000,000m3 of excavation
◾2 large grade separated interchange
◾& nearly 1 million m² of paving.
This PPP agreement also includes a 25 year operation and maintenance contract.
