Purpose-built modular extension at Shantalla Health Centre by Actavo

Actavo-mastActavo Building Solutions, a supplier of modular buildings, has recently constructed a purpose-built modular extension at Shantalla Health Centre, Galway City.

With the health centre’s existing facility having reached full capacity, Actavo were commissioned by the Health Service Executive’s West Division to provide additional capacity for dental services at the Health Centre’s existing facility on the city’s Newcastle Road.

Actavo’s modular extension comprises a 91m² single-storey dental surgery consisting of two dental theatres, a clean and dirty decontamination room and an X-ray room constructed with specially-lined walls.

The extension has been connected to the existing building using a link-way and has a multi-pro external finish colour to match the existing facility’s façade. Due to the efficiencies that offsite construction brings, Actavo’s onsite works on the dental practice took only five weeks to complete.

Commenting on the project, Liam Brew, Operations Director at Actavo Building Solutions, said “Sensitive to the presence of patients and medical professionals at Shantalla Health Centre, we were mindful of the need to minimise disruption onsite. A five-week turnaround on the project, with the majority of extension works being conducted offsite, clearly demonstrates that we achieved this requirement.”
