Shannon Airport Group Shortlisted for Two Construction and Architecture Awards
Exciting news emerges from the Shannon Airport Group as it secures nominations for two prestigious national awards in construction and architecture.
The recently completed commercial properties, Block R and Block S, situated in the Business Park at the Shannon Campus, have earned recognition in the upcoming Irish Construction Excellence Awards and the Building & Architect of the Year Awards.
Winners of the Building & Architect of the Year Awards will be revealed on Friday, April 12, while the Irish Construction Excellence Awards winners will be announced on Friday, May 24.
This nomination follows Shannon Airport Group’s triumphant start to 2024, where it clinched the esteemed ‘Placemaking Initiative of the Year’ award at the National Property Awards.

Block R, constructed by OCC Construction, has been nominated in the Industrial Excellence category in the Irish Construction Excellence Awards for its sustainable construction through the LEED and NZEB frameworks. This development boasts a LEED Silver 40,000 sq ft manufacturing facility with a 6,000 sq ft two-storey office block.
Furthermore, both Block R and Block S have been shortlisted for ‘Commercial Building of the Year’ in the Building & Architect of the Year awards, recognizing their design excellence, sustainability, and community impact.
Designed by O’Neill O’Malley Architects, Block S offers a versatile 60,000 sq ft industrial space with optional configurations, making it ideal for various manufacturing and distribution needs.
This nomination underscores Shannon Airport Group’s commitment to innovation and excellence, further solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
