Cairn Homes is continuing its busy start to 2020 with news that full planning permission has been granted by An Bord Pleanála for the company’s strategic housing development at Farrankelly, Delgany, County Wicklow. The new development provides for 426 new homes comprising 245 houses, 93 apartments and 88 duplex units within an overall site of 52 acres.

The unique character and quality of the Farrankelly site, which is located on the outskirts of Delgany village, with its exceptional views of both the Wicklow mountains and the Irish sea, provides Cairn with an unrivalled opportunity to deliver a truly signature residential development.

Cairn’s design approach to Farrankelly puts an emphasis on place-making and a focus on public realm and landscape with the creation of new amenity spaces. The development will feature over 11 acres of active open space which will include a sports pitch as well as a tennis court and an all-weather multi-use pitch, a children’s play area and an informal kick-about area. This will be complemented by 10 acres of additional open space incorporating a substantial 650 metre pedestrian and cycle route greenway located along the northern boundary and separately running and training areas.

At the heart of the development is a residential amenity building which will contain a well-appointed multi-purpose residents room, gym and management facilities, with stepped access opening out into the adjacent open space. Farrankelly will be a unique residential development where residents and the wider community will benefit from this broad range of amenities right on their door-step, while Cairn’s residential amenity building will support and enhance the sense of community within the development.

Cairn continues to be Ireland’s most active housebuilder and is currently live on 16 residential developments. The company will start building in Farrankelly shortly on foot of this successful strategic housing planning grant and looks forward to bringing what will be an exceptional and unrivalled Cairn residential development to the market in this much sought-after location during 2020.
