Shortlist For Ireland’s Most Influential Project
The public is being asked to vote for Ireland’s most influential project from the past 50 years from a shortlist compiled by the Ireland Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI). Voting for the eight shortlisted projects is now open at www.pmi-ireland.org/jubilee for Ireland’s Jubilee Project Award, sponsored by PwC, to mark the 50th anniversary of PMI globally this year.
The winner of this special anniversary accolade will be revealed at the Ireland Chapter of PMI’s annual National Project Awards on 14 November, in the Dublin offices of PwC. The shortlist includes:
- Expansion of Ireland’s International Airports
- Guinness Storehouse
- Introduction of the Smoking Ban
- Luas Light-Rail System
- Redevelopment of Croke Park
- Regeneration of Dublin Docklands
- State Motorway Programme
- Wild Atlantic Way.
Speaking on the shortlist, Ireland Chapter of PMI’s President Pat Lucey said: “Following a public nomination process for Ireland’s most influential project, the Chapter has compiled a shortlist of eight from nearly 100 long-listed projects. We are now asking the public to cast their final vote to name Ireland’s Jubilee Project. The ultimate winner will be decided by combined public and jury vote.
“Those shortlisted are exceptional examples of how ambitious projects have delivered tangible benefits across Ireland. As the PMI has celebrated and nurtured project management excellence for the past 50 years, it is fitting to now shine a light on those projects that have transformed Irish society during this time.”
Along with the Jubilee Project Award, winners of a further seven categories will also be announced at the Ireland Chapter of PMI’s annual National Project Awards, in association with PwC, in November. Celebrating the country’s forward-thinking project managers and teams, the shortlist for Project Professional of the Year, PMO of the Year, Private Sector Project of the Year (both Irish and Multinational), Public Sector Project of the Year, and Project Management for Social Good (both Corporate and Community) will be revealed in the coming weeks.
