- €700,000 dedicated to the Sligo Greenway, aimed at improving sustainable transport options in the area.
In neighboring Leitrim, funding will support critical initiatives such as:

- €600,000 each for the N16 Manorhamilton to Cornacloy Phase 2 pavement project and its Phase 4 Pavement Scheme.
- €1 million allocated for the N4 Carrick-on-Shannon to Dromod bypass at Drumsna, addressing congestion and improving traffic flow in the region.
Local representatives, including Sligo Leitrim TD Deputy Frank Feighan and Sligo Drumcliff Councillor Thomas Walsh, have expressed appreciation for the government’s support in advancing these vital projects. Deputy Feighan credited An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s intervention at cabinet for ensuring the green light for these developments.
Among the projects set to directly benefit from the funding is the resurfacing works at Rathcormac National School, scheduled to minimize traffic disruption by being carried out over the Easter holidays. This initiative underscores the commitment to improving local infrastructure while minimizing inconvenience to residents.
Local Independent Councillor Marie Casserly hailed the funding allocation as a significant boost for the region, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on connecting communities and driving economic growth.
As these projects move forward, they are poised to enhance road safety, support sustainable transport solutions, and stimulate economic development in Sligo and Leitrim, laying the groundwork for a brighter future for residents and businesses alike.
